Production Operative

First Call Contract Services are recruiting for full time production operatives to join our well established client in Newmarket.

Summary:

• £12 per hour plus company bonus
• Permanent Contract
• Rotating Shift, 1 week earlies 6am-2pm, 1 week lates 2pm-10pm.
• Will include around 5 Saturdays in a 12 week Rota.

• Job role – The production, manufacture, assembly and packing of food produce in accordance with the product specification, company standards and procedures regarding Safety, Hygiene, Quality and Cost.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Complete role/tasks in line with all Risk Assessment and Company Procedures.
• Work in a safe manner, without risk to self or others, by observing all health and safety roles, procedures and COSSH regulations, ensuring individual PPE is worn as stipulated for each task (ear defenders, etc.)
• Responsible for handling food products, maintaining high personal hygiene standards and observing all company hygiene, quality and housekeeping rules, as laid out in company induction and procedures.
• Ensure equipment and working areas are cleaned to company hygiene standards prior to production run.
• Comply with ‘Clean as you go’ at all times, ensuring area around you is dry and free from clutter.
• Ensure yield is maximized by assessing the quality of the product and ensuring compliance to the required product specification. E.G. Recording waste figures/re-working where possible.
• Working as part of the production team, achieve daily targets without detriment to product quality, food and personal safety.
• Operate machinery in accordance with training and relevant skills.
• Work as an operative within all areas of the production process to provide maximum flexibility.
• Report to the Team Leader any hazards or defects, by raising Near Misses.
• Ensure product/racks are labelled at all times, to maintain traceability.
• Support continuous improvement in all areas of the operation where greater efficiency, hygiene, quality and safety could be achieved.
• Ensure all paperwork is filled in accurately and in a timely manner, for all relevant tasks carried out.
• Monitoring checks to be completed as required (Temperature/Visual Quality/Length/Weight /Labelling /Health and Safety start up checks).
• Escalate issues which are impacting production and seek correctives/resolutions.
• Compliance to procedures and booked as you go.
• To carry out product change overs and set machines in accordance with company procedures.
• Carry out all other reasonable management requests on an ad hoc basis.
• Be on the line at start of shift.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience:

• Working in a busy factory environment.
• Working within a team.
• Due diligence – paperwork completion.
• Defacto system – Booking.
• Knowledge of Hygiene and Food standards.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety standards.
• Allergen Awareness.
